Medlock FRB Limited are a leisure sector main contractor focussing on fitout, refurbishment and manufactured joinery. They are privately owned, employ 120 people and turnover in this financial year, 2017, is expected to be £37M.
As their business continues to grow, they wanted to partner with an organisation that were pro-active and professional in dealing with certain parts of their supply chain. Medlock were already a member of CHAS but felt the relationship wasn’t close enough and that they were not getting the best value from the service CHAS provides.
An initial meeting was set up with Lucy Dixon and Wendy Maddock to gain an understanding of the services CHAS offers and to agree some parameters for initiatives that Medlock wanted to run throughout their business.
Medlock wanted to:
• Streamline the number of subcontractors currently on the database.
• Engage with the existing subcontractors to assist them achieve CHAS registration.
• Locate new subcontractors in specific geographical areas.
• Ensure that they only used CHAS registered subcontractors going forward.
Colin Drury, Finance Director at Medlock FRB Ltd said:
“Lucy has been absolutely instrumental in driving this initiative for us. Her common sense, no frills approach has really helped us achieve our objectives. She understands the industry, does what she says she will and in a straightforward manner. We would not have achieved what we did without her.
We believe that CHAS are not a “ticking the box exercise” like some similar schemes out there, they want to make a difference to the industry and they can, without doubt, drive change through organisational supply chains if working in collaboration.
CHAS are our supply chain partner, we maintain a close working relationship to drive change, increase professionalism throughout our subcontractors and improve year on year.”
