Build, Build, Build

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a decline in productivity in the UK construction supply chain due to the closure of businesses and the stoppage of work.

The construction industry saw higher levels of business activity in June with the easing of lockdown and the phased return to work on site. With Boris Johnson’s economy speech on the 30th June 2020 expected to positively impact the construction industry even further.

This recent announcement will boost the UK construction industry. Key points mentioned by the Prime Minister were:

  • To build homes
  • To fix the NHS
  • To solve social care
  • To tackle the skills crisis
  • To mend the indefensible gap in opportunity and productivity and connectivity between the regions of the UK
  • To unite and level up
