Step 1: Register On VeriforceOne

VeriforceONE is our online contractors’ portal where you can create and manage your CHAS account, monitor your compliance status and access exclusive membership benefits. VeriforceONE offers a single, easy-to-use dashboard for all of your risk management needs and lets you perform actions such as renewing or upgrading your membership.

Step 2: Tell Us About Your Business

Next, it’s time to provide information about your business. We will need the following details:

  • Your company name and address
  • Your primary representative’s contact information
  • Your corporate email address and phone number
  • Your number of employees

Tip: Speed up the registration process by entering your Companies House registration number, which will auto-fill most of your business details.

At this stage, you’ll also need to set up a password to secure your VeriforceOne account.

Step 3: Choose An Assessment and Membership Package

CHAS contractors have three assessment and membership packages to choose from.

CHAS Standard

Step 4: Complete Your Assessments

Depending on your membership package, you may have anywhere from one to 13 assessments to complete. To do this, you’ll need to upload documents and policies demonstrating your compliance with various supply chain standards.

Examples of supporting evidence to submit include:

  • Your health and safety policies
  • Evidence of risk assessments and method statements
  • Records of on-site health and safety inspections
  • Insurance documents
  • Records of maintenance and testing of equipment (such as PAT)
  • Proof of training and certification
  • Construction phase plans

You are free to complete these assessments at your own pace. Your verification will only start once all your assessments are completed and approved by our assessors.

Step 5: An Assessor Will Review Your Application

One of our assessors will review the information you provided within 48 hours* of submitting your application. Depending on your assessment, the review can occur:

  • Electronically through a full desktop assessment
  • Through an on-site audit. (Can also be completed remotely).
  • Through the SSIP “Deem to Satisfy” scheme.

Your assessor will let you know as soon as possible whether or not your application was successful. If you don’t pass the assessment, don’t panic. CHAS will guide you on the next steps to take to reapply successfully.

*For fast-tracked applications. Terms and conditions apply.

New Procurement Policy Note (PPN 03/24)

Contracting authorities in the public sector should now assess their supply chains using the Common Assessment Standard (CHAS Elite), following the release of PPN 03/24, which updates the existing statutory guidance.

Veriforce CHAS members wishing to work for public sector bodies or bid for new public sector contracts should meet theCommon Assessment Standard, which is achieved by completing the CHAS Elite assessment, to save time and money.

Public sector contracting authorities must implement the changes in PPN 03/23 by the end of June 2024.
